'Deadpool' Release Date, Cast & Trailer: First Look at Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, Actor Teases in Photo

'Deadpool' actor Ryan Reynolds has recently taken to Twitter to tease fans about his costume. In a new social media post, the "Green Lantern" star showed a photo of himself at a work station with a "prototype of the merc with the mouth's mask and gloves," reports IGN.

"Sepia tone disguises the fact the mask is ballerina pink. It's early. 365 sleeps early. #deadpool #prototypes," captioned the husband of Blake Lively of the snap.

With the movie set for release in 2016, exactly a year to the date of Reynolds' post, he couldn't help but give fans a sneak peek of his upcoming costume. According to the Hollywood Reporter, " it looks exactly like the costume designed by Rob Liefeld for the character's debut in 1991's New Mutants No. 98."

The character of Deadpool, first played by Reynolds in the 2009 film, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" will be given a second chance to make a splash on the silver screen. However, given that the movie wasn't a massive success, it's highly likely that the new film won't make any references to the 6-year-old flick.

This upcoming stand-alone film will most likely follow a different direction as it will be included in the X-Men movie universe.

Aside from Reynolds, other stars under the direction of Tim Miller include T.J. Miller and Ed Skrein but a lead female star has yet to be determined. The film's script was penned by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.

Per IGN, the film is looking at a number of female actresses that are believed to include "Morena Baccarin (Gotham), Taylor Schilling (Orange is the New Black), Crystal Reed (Teen Wolf), Rebecca Rittenhouse (The Red Band Society), Sarah Greene (Vikings, Noble) and Jessica De Gouw (Arrow)."

Other films set for release include "Fantastic Four" which opens August 7th, 2015, "Deadpool" on February 12, 2016. It will be followed by "X-Men: Apocalypse" on May 27, 2016 and "Gambit" on October, 7 2016,

Hugh Jackman's "Wolverine 3" is slated for a March 3rd, 2017, while the sequel "Fantastic Four 2" will be out July 14th of the same year along and then a unspecified X-Men film three years from now on July 13th, 2018.

No trailer for "Deadpool" has been released.
