MacBook Air 2015: 12-inch Ultra-Slim Laptop Out Feb? Nope, Release Date Delayed

Apple is expected to release a remodeled line of gadgets that began with the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus released last year.

Along with a rumored larger iPad, dubbed as the iPad Pro, the Cupertino-based company is believed to be working on a ultra-thin 12-inch MacBook Air with a lone port and stellar Retina Display.

Earlier reports indicated that the device may be launched as early as February 2015 but this may not be the case. Cult of Mac wrote that "you shouldn't expect the Retina Display MacBook Air to debut at this time. Rather, it'll be a speed bump, updating the MacBook Air with (possibly) Intel's latest Broadwell chips, but not much else."

The date of February 24 is a significant date for Apple, notes Apple Insider, as this is Steve Jobs' birthday (1955). The date has previously been used to introduce new products and some sources claimed this would be the date that Apple would introduce the new MacBook Air.

The site estimates that the 12-inch MacBook with Retina Display -- estimated to measure about 11.88-inch -- won't be announced any earlier than June, if at all. It is most likely that a new launch would be done during June's WWDC conference.

In a previous report by Digitimes, the Retina MacBook Air was definitely on. Taiwan-based supplier Quanta Computer began the volume production for the 12-inch laptop in January. The company was said to have boosted its work force for production with an additional 30,000 workers.

Sources of the site claimed that the new MacBook Air would have a 12-inch display replacing the 11-inch model but the 13-inch line would still continue.

iPad Pro

Similar to the rumored 12-inch MacBook, the iPad Pro or iPad Air Plus, if we follow the iPhone naming scheme, could also be launched in 2015.

Earlier this month moldings for the rumored oversized tablet hit the web showing either a 12.2 or 12.9-inch device. The ultra-thin megapad is believed to have dual speakers for enhanced sound quality. Additionally, the Pro is expected to come equipped with an iPen, 2GB of RAM, multiple storage capacity (similar to the iPhone 6/ 6 Plus), iSight camera, Touch ID sensor, and either an A8X or A9 processor and a 4K display.

The nearest confirmed new product release will be the Apple Watch due out in Early 2015. Tim Cook as already confirmed an April shipment of the wearable device the CEO has described as something he "can't live without."
