'Mortal Kombat X' Release Date & Features for PS4, Xbox One Revealed [Watch Video]

Fans of the video game "Mortal Kombat" need not wait any longer. Word is out that the 10th installment of this popular video game series is coming out soon.

Game developer NetherRealm Studios came out with the last "Mortal Kombat" game, after "MK9" in 2011. Four years after the last installment, the company behind the successful game is releasing a better and more exciting "Mortal Kombat X."

According to Game Spot, one thing fans of the game could look forward to in the upcoming "Mortal Kombat X" is the Faction Wars feature. Players could choose to be a member of one of the five factions in the games: Black Dragon, Lin Kuei, White Lotus, Brotherhood of Shadow and Special Forces.

The player's achievement would earn a certain number of points and all points would be tallied at the end of the week. The faction with most number of points would win special bonuses, which they could use in the upcoming matches.

This mode also offers additional individual challenges that would help teams or factions to earn more points.

Players need not worry if another player has chosen a specific character for one faction, as every character is playable in all factions.

One of the gameplays "MK9" introduced was the Challenge Towers. In the upcoming "Mortal Kombat X," developers returned with the same concept in the "Living Towers" although with a different approach, reported Game Rant.

The new "Living Towers" is a three-level game, which begins with the easiest in the "Quick Towers." This level is made of five easy games, which would change every few hours of playing it.

This level is followed by the "Daily Towers," which is more challenging and is comprised of eight games that get updated in 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the most challenging level was saved for the last with the "Premier Tower." It reportedly consists of 15 matches and would take around a week before the games are rotated.

The game's publisher, Warner Bros. Entertainment has recently announced that it would come out with a collector's edition of the new "Mortal Kombat X," said Christian Post.

Three of the four collector's items would be available on the PS4 and Xbox One only. These three are: "Mortal Kombat X Limited Edition," "Mortal Kombat X: Kollector's Edition" and "Mortal Kombat X: Kollector's Edition by Coarse."

Meanwhile, the "Mortal Kombat X: Premium Edition" would be available in other consoles and platforms as well.

A special "Kombat Pack" edition awaits players of the collector's version. The special pack would introduce four new additional characters, which have yet to be revealed.

The "Mortal Kombat X: Kollector's Edition by Coarse" would be sold for $150 while the "Mortal Kombat X: Kollector's Edition" is priced at $180.

The Coarse edition would include a special "Scorpion" figurine and costume and a signed certificate of authenticity by Sven Waschk and Mark Landwehr. Meanwhile, the other collector's edition would include a simpler "Scorpion" collectible.

The "Mortal Kombat X: Limited Edition" would be sold at a cheaper price of $90 as it does not include a Scorpion figurine, but just a costume which players could wear.

The Premium Edition would be available for download and is priced at $90.

"Mortal Kombat X" hits stores on April 14, 2015.
