It is still fairly early in the year but 2016 is already shaping up towards becoming an exciting year, especially in terms of interior paint. With all the modern painting techniques plus the fresh paint colors to choose from, it is now easier to add style and taste to any home.

The following are some of the modern painting trends including a few techniques you need to know about.

Colors

Latest neutral colors, WSAV reported. The days are gone when you are stuck with painting the good old beige hues to your walls to create a color scheme that is easy-on-the-eyes. Now, you can select from a wide range of fresh neutral colors for 2016. You can choose a mild shade such as celadon, pale gold, or alabaster. You can also go for an ultra-modern dark neutral shade such as bronze.

Techniques

The country barn board effect.

The country appeal of a worn barn board became a hugely popular trend on interior decoration, Brazil Press reported. All you have to do to copy the rustic look onto your walls is just to evenly layer on some variegated hues of gray and white paint, rub it down using a rag to lightly spread out the shades, and finishing it by gently sanding it.

Watercolor

Watercolor is such a big hit in fashion design. The delicate, romantic watercolor effect will look fabulous when painted on one or two accent walls.

Fake Tin Ceiling

Do not skip out on painting your ceiling! Benjamin Moore presents a really nice tutorial on DIY fake tin ceiling, with the use of some metallic paint along with a special template.

Tea Stain Feature

If you would like your paint with a slight "antique" finish but aren't really up to waiting another hundred years, you can try this technique which gives your paint hue a very stylish depth and richness.
