Former Atlanta Falcons running back Jamal Anderson has lost his Atlanta mansion to foreclosure and it has been sold at auction, according to a report by TMZ.com.

Jamal Anderson played for the Atlanta Falcons from 1994 to 2001 and bought the 10-bedroom, 9-bath mansion way back in 1999  when he sealed a contract with the NFL for $1.225 million.

The site reports that Anderson defaulted on his mortgage and the unnamed bank recently sold the home for $1 million, which is $225,000 less than what Anderson paid for it in 1999.

TMZ also reported that Anderson recently paid off that $1.1 million federal tax lien we reported on last January.

Anderson helped lead the Falcons to their first and only Super Bowl in 1999 before suffering a career-ending knee injury in 2001. He has had several run-ins with the law since retirement.

In February 2009, Anderson was charged with cocaine and marijuana possession after an off-duty officer said he saw the athlete using drugs at a Buckhead bar. The charges, however, were later dismissed, according to his attorney, Jerry Froelich.
