When it comes to smartphones, previously released devices by the same firm can provide an idea of what's to come with other devices. Such has been the case with Samsung, with each radical feature, usually we see the Asian firm carry the same detail throughout most of its devices.

As an example, after it launched its first device with metal casing Samsung smartphones carried the same design element giving the brand a much more luxurious line of gadgets. The same thing happened with dual-edge phones; first came the Galaxy Note Edge and after, the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge was introduced.

Now, there are new reports circulating that suggest the tech giant is developing a dual-edge display for its upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 5. DigiTimes has cited Korea-based iNews24 which reports that the Korean company will "focus its efforts on flexible smartphone units" and forego any plans for releasing a flexible 7-inch tablet within 2015.

The flexible display or Edge-feature has been a hit for Samsung in the markets that the company will be introducing the feature in all its upcoming smartphones.

The news joins the list of other speculated features expected to come with the next-generation Note. In addition to an alleged dual-edge screen, MasterHerald reported that the Galaxy Note 5 will upgrade its display pixel density to either a 4K resolution or Ultra-HD display (2160 x 3840 pixels). Other upgrades expected to be packed into the new Galaxy Note will be 4GB of RAM.

According to PhoneArena, Samsung has already confirmed that it has Ultra HD (2160 x 3840 pixel) Super AMOLED display for smartphone devices in 2015 but hasn't specifically confirmed which devices will be getting the upgrade.

Aside from specs, we've also heard the publication indicate a possible release date for the high-powered phablet. Sources have revealed that the amped up Galaxy Note 5 will be unveiled around this year's IFA expo with production set to commence in August.

"The exact diagonals are said to be 5.78" for the inevitable dual edge Note 5, and 5.89 inches for the regular, flat display version. These return exactly 762ppi and 748ppi, respectively, or the highest pixel densities ever attempted on a phone, if this Note 5 speculation pans out. The more, the merrier."

Last year Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note 4 Edge during a pre-IFA event held in Berlin, Germany. The phone came with a 5.7-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display, Android 4.4 KitKat, 3,220mAh fast charging battery, LTE capabilities along with a 16-MP camera, to name a few.
