'The Whispers' ABC TV Show Season 2 Spoilers: ABC Series In Danger Of Not Being Renewed Due To Lack Of Casting Options?

ABC's new series "The Whispers" is currently in danger of not being renewed for Season 2. According to Deadline, ABC and ABC Studios are currently discussing the future of the show and taking the first five episode's ratings into consideration. Although the new series seemed to have been doing well, the studio and the network are quite concerned with their casting and budget.

The publication noted that the cast of "The Whispers" is just too costly, so not all of them may be carried over to Season 2 if the show will be renewed. Additionally, there are reports that lead star Lily Rabe wants to quit the show after Season 1.

Rabe's decision came after the production of "The Whispers" was moved from Los Angeles to Vancouver just after the filming of the pilot episode. Now ABC and ABC Studios, who don't have any plans of moving back the set to Los Angeles, is reportedly considering a replacement for Rabe.

In other reports, Rabe may only be tapped to reprise her role as Claire Bennigan in some episodes of Season 2 if the series will be picked up.

Meanwhile, more and more twists are being uncovered in the first five episodes of the series. Ahead of episode 5's premiere, showrunner Zack Estrin already said that the particular episode will be pivotal.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he said, "The great thing about this episode is that we got to reveal what caused that thing that was found in the desert in the pilot. We weren't just going to polar bear the thing, we were actually able to show the answer. And as Wes (Barry Sloane) figures out where it came from, we come right back to the beginning of the pilot."

The second half of "The Whispers" Season 1 is set to premiere this Monday on ABC.
