The year 2020 has been a rough year for everybody, thanks to the coronavirus global pandemic. But we don't need to bring that energy to 2021 and commit to a fresh start. So what is the best way to attract a positive vibe if we are still confined at home? Start developing a home organization habit.

Since most of us were forced to stay at home and even make space for our jobs, it is advisable to create or improve home organization habits to have a more functional and breathable house.

The goal is to maximize every space while making essential items accessible for everyday use.

To help you have an organized year ahead, here are some home organization habits to help boost order in every corner of your house.

Start with the bed

A wise man once said: "If you want to change the world, start by making your bed."

Once you start the day with an organized bed, it will encourage you to keep everything inside the room organized as well. And soon, you will realize that the tidying up habit is making a domino effect in the entire house.

Imagine a well-kept bedroom that feels like entering a five-star hotel room? It will surely give you a more peaceful sleep and less stress.

10-minute cleanup

If you are having a hard time figuring out how to start the cleaning up, why not practice a 10-minute cleanup time and commit to it every day.

Instead of allotting a whole day of decluttering and tidying up, take 10-minutes of your life organizing a specific area at home. This habit is also perfect if you have kids at home, you can even set a timer and make it a quick family bonding.

Let go of useless packaging.

With everything getting delivered in our front door these days, packaging has also been a part of our daily lives. There are some cute packaging that we could not resist, especially those Instagrammable ones.

Instead of telling yourself, "It is a nice box, though!" or "What if I need it later?" why not ditch the packaging as soon as you get it? Random boxes and paper bags kill your decluttering efforts as it takes up more space.

Invest in organizers

Space-saving organizers are your best friend. Aside from serving its purpose of keeping things in order, it is also pleasing in the eye and makes every space breathable. Some of the best organizers you can get are the following:

  • Under-the-bed bin - use this for storing seasonal clothes, beddings, curtains, and other stuff that you won't need daily.

  • Airtight food containers - most of this comes in a set, making your pantry goals dream come true. Pair it with a compact label printer that will help you quickly identify items in the container.

  • Grocery organizer - this is perfect for organizing items in the fridge and pantry.
