Celebrity Home: Cate Blanchett Buys £3million Mansion in English Countryside

Oscar-winning actress Cate Blanchett is believed to be moving to a new residence located in a quaint English countryside called the Highwell House, Mail Online reported.

The nineteenth-century home costs over £3million and has 13 acre of lush grounds. The outdoor area has stunning green views and features red brick walls with a Victorian style.

Said home was once owned by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Doctor Who's Tom Baker. Although the house has fallen into disrepair, it was renovated 18 months ago by designer Paula Barnes and her husband, Matthew.

The home is located in the unassuming town of Crowborough, East Sussex, where many rich and famous people resides. It is situated three miles outside Crowborough town centre. Actress Kate Winslet lives nearby the area in West Wittering where she lives with her husband, Ned Rocknroll and her three children. Meanwhile, Heather Mills and Bryan Ferry also reside nearby in Robertsbridge and Fittleworth, respectively.

The house has five reception rooms, seven bedrooms and it boasts a beautiful oak staircase that becomes the centerpiece of the interior. It has a total of 9,000sq ft space that is comprised of a family room, a game room, a greenhouse and a pantry. It is even described as "an exceptional country house occupying an elevated position in the much coveted East Sussex countryside."

The 46-year-old star will be moving in the house with her husband, theatre director Andrew Upton as well as her four children Dashiell John, Roman Robert, Ignatius Martin and her adopted daughter Edith Vivian Patricia.

The actress revealed to her friends during last week's Golden Globe awards in Los Angeles about her new home saying that she "loved the green" of the English countryside even if she grew up in Melbourne, Sunday Times reported.

The mansion was built in 1890 and was originally called Higher Steep. Prior to Blanchett, there were other owners of the home which includes a jeweller and a wealthy son of a shipping magnate. Recently, it was listed by Knight Frank in the market for £3.75million.
