Rent Jonathan Adler’s Shelter Island home for $11,000 a month

Jonathan Adler, the famous designer-turned-author, has reportedly put his residence in Shelter Island, New York, up for rent at $11,000 a month.

The New York Post broke the news noting that Penelope Moore of Saunders & Associates is the listing agent.

Adler and his writer partner, Simon Doonan, opened doors of the home to the Architectural Digest in 2012. Before they built the house, they lived in a smaller home across the island their current residence sits on. They moved on to purchase the property and do it up in complete Adler style, what he would like to call "Happy Chic."

On the experience of buying the residence, Doonan told the publication:

"And so four years ago we put the place on the market and bought a larger piece of waterfront land on the opposite side of the island, with panoramic views of Gardiners Bay and Orient Point. The plot spoke to us. "You must build a one-storey compound, part modernist fantasy, part rustic beach retreat," it cooed. "Now step on it!""

According to the listing records, the residence was last up for sale with an asking price of $1.5 million. The home has lovely white interiors with tiled flooring and glass doors and windows. Done up in high-gloss marine paint, the angular home reflects sunlight.

The house offers a living space of 1,299 square feet and has three bedrooms and two bathrooms. There is a separate guest house and parking space. Outside, there is a 75-feet heated pool and a small ping-pong court in the corner.

"Chic and stylish in the truest sense and with a design authentic to its era, this property must be seen," the listing claims.

Last year, Adler released a web series - "Inspiration Point" - in association with AOL Inc where he spoke about his sources of inspiration in each episode. Talking about the series in an interview with Elle Magazine, Adler said:

"You'll laugh, you'll cry, and-hopefully-you'll see how to channel your ideas into one place to create something that makes you happy. The series follows the journey from inspiration-which can be an amazing Brâncuși sculpture or the color of my Norwich Terrier, Liberace, or some Ke$ha lyrics-to an actual product. My job is to take all my ideas and bring them together in one world. My inspiration is to make cool shit."
