'Yu-Gi-Oh!' Movie: 'The Dark Side of Dimensions' Slated Before 2016 Golden Week Holiday

Kazuki Takahashi manga “Yu-Gi-Oh!” will have another movie adaptation titled “Yu-Gi-Oh! The Dark Side of Dimensions.” The latest film is slated for release on April 23, 2016 before Japan celebrates its national holidays, the Golden Week.

According to Crunchyroll, the date of the theatrical release has been confirmed by the official twitter account of Yu-Gi-Oh! Anime. The Tweet states that the “Yu-Gi-Oh! The Dark Side of Dimensions” will hit the movie house in Japan on April 23, 2016.

As reported, the storyline of “Yu-Gi-Oh! The Dark Side of Dimensions” follows the “after episode” of the anime story. It is also revealed that the creator of the manga, Kazuki Takahashi, is involved in the movie as he will be the one penning the script at the same time he will handle the original character designs.

Surprisingly, it has also been revealed that Kazuki Takahashi is the executive producer of “Yu-Gi-Oh! The Dark Side of Dimensions.” It appears like Takahashi has a handful of responsibilities in the upcoming movie adaptation.

The director of “Yu-Gi-Oh! The Dark Side of Dimensions” is none other than Satoshi Kuwahara, the very person who helm the 5th TV anime series “Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal.”

Anime News Network on the hand reveals the roster of the voice actors and actresses. As confirmed, Shunsuke Kazama and Kenjiro Tsuda will be reprising their lead roles Yūgi Mutō and Seto Kaiba respectively.

Other cast members that are mentioned by ANN are: “Hidehiro Kikuchi as Hiroto Honda (Tristan Taylor), Hiroki Takahashi as Katsuya Jōnōchi (Joey Wheeler), Junko Takeuchi as Mokuba Kaiba, Maki Saitou as Anzu Masaki (Téa Gardener), and Rica Matsumoto as Ryō Bakura.

As for the plot of the “Yu-Gi-Oh! The Dark Side of Dimensions,” ANN says that the Weekly Shonen Jump has hinted what the story of “Yu-Gi-Oh!” movie adaptation will be about. The spoiler reads “In the past Yūgi Yami and Kaiba have clashed many times!! Yami Yūgi, who resides in Yūgi Mutō's body, and Kaiba will have a duel that bets their prides and accepts each other's mutual experience.”

Fans have at least 5 more months to go before they would see “Yu-Gi-Oh! The Dark Side of Dimensions” in the big screen.
