Southampton’s Linden Estate Returns to the Market Asking $45 Million

The famed Southampton Linden Estate has returned to the market after speculations of being sold to Netscape founder, Jim H. Clark were proved wrong. The estate has now been listed for $45 Million.

According to Curbed, the Linden estate was purchased by Juergen Friedrich, former executive of Espirit, for around $8.5 million in 2002. After renovating the place, he listed in 2008 for $60 million. Failing to sell in four years, the place was offered up for rent in early 2012 with a monthly charge of $850,000 a month.

In July 2012, the home supposedly went under contract to be sold to Clark for its listed price- $49 million. However, according to public documents, looks like the sale never happened and the estate has returned on the market with another price dip.

The Linden estate, located in the South Fork area of Southampton, was originally built by famous architect, Grosvenor Atterbury in 1915. The traditional style home sits on a 9.11 acre lot spanning across an area of around 18,000 square feet. The home has 12 bedrooms and 12.5 bathrooms spread over three or more stories.

A grand entry hall opens into the spacious living room that features glass doors and windows. Large family rooms, a great room, a office, a library, a bonus room and a den are its other features. A gourmet kitchen with a private breakfast area also exists in the house. Other facilities include a modern gym, an indoor pool, a spa and a laundry room.

Outside, the estate has a separate guest house, complete with its own kitchen and maid quarters. An elaborate carriage house, a tennis court, paddle court, a greenhouse and an infinity pool with fountains. The home offers vast landscaped gardens with flower shrubs lining them.

The estate's listing currently lies with Corcoran Group real estate agents, Tim Davis and Felicitas Kohl.
