iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus, iPad Pro Release Date & Specs: High Tech Feature Leaked, Plus Phone & Pro Getting Upgraded Touch [Rumors]

This year, Apple is expected to unveil its newest iPhone dubbed as the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus.

A number of sources have reported that Force Touch, technology present included in the Apple Watch, MacBook and new MacBook in the MacBook, could be making its way to the next-gen smartphone.

MacRumors has reported that the technology, used to distinguish between different pressures will be making its way exclusively to the iPhone 6S Plus. This technology opens up a new set of features and commands.

However, the site notes that the unconfirmed reports should be taken with a grain of salt.

"...making Force Touch exclusive to the iPhone 6s Plus would not be an unprecedented move. Apple limited optical image stabilization (OIS) to the iPhone 6 Plus, and the larger smartphone also features a landscape mode. The higher cost of Force Touch sensors could be another reason that Apple would limit the technology to the more expensive iPhone 6s Plus."

Next Gen iPhone Features

Similar to Apple's last release, it's highly expected that the Cupertino-based firm will launch a two model smartphone. An iPhone 6S coming in at 4.7 inches and a larger iPhone 6S Plus which measures 5.5 inches.

The upcoming iPhone, referred to by many as the iPhone 6S -- or what others call the iPhone 7 -- is expected to come with an A9 processor, 2GB of RAM, 8MP back camera and similar other features like Touch ID.

Smartphone Release Date

The next iPhone will most likely be released in the fall of 2015, the same timeline of previous iPhone releases. The iPhone 6 series was released in September 2014, the iPhone 5S and 5C back in September 2013, the iPhone 5 in September 2012 and the iPhone 4S which was released a month later, October 2011.

iPad Pro Tablet

In addition to the Force Touch technology heading to the iPhone, we could see Force Touch make its way to the upcoming iPad Pro, an oversized 12 inch iPad.

An earlier report by Apple Insider cited that the larger tablet will not only get a larger touchscreen but will also have improved touch latency. Moreover, with its focus on a professional audience, the iPad Pro could come with a Bluetooth -activated stylus.

Relatedly, with improved touch latency, there's more touch sensitivity whichwill be the perfect platform for incorporating the Force Touch. It went on to report that the iPad Pro will come with the Apple A8X processor.

Stay tuned for more.
