'Frozen 2' Trailer, Movie & Plot: Kristen Bell Remains Unconfirmed? Cast News Here

Disney has announced that the much-awaited sequel for "Frozen" is a go.

Walt Disney Animation Studios has confirmed that the second installment to the smash hit is in the works with a release date estimated to be in 2018.

A new report by VCPost has noted that a month after the movie's announcement, with limited details having been released, not even the cast has been confirmed.

The film's lead stars -- Idina Menzel and Kristen Bell -- are expected to return but it hasn't been confirmed. The news portal shared that Idina Menzel (Queen Elsa) will be returning for the second film but her counterpart, Kristen Bell (Princess Anna) has not been officially announced.

However, fans need not worry because while Bell's casting hasn't been officially stated, it's likely that the "Veronica Mars" star will come back given her twitter activity. The star was one of the first to announce the sequel with an adorable photo. The blonde beauty is seen smiling with her eyes clothes as she puts her head on a pack of ice.

"Dreams really do come 2!!! #FROZEN2 #itsofficial," wrote the wife of Dax Shepard in the caption that accompanied the photo.

"Frozen 2" Plot Rumors

There is a lot of speculation regarding the storyline for "Frozen 2." Some rumors include the return of Prince Hans as a possible villain-turned-hero as well as speculation that he could return to be the love interest of Queen Elsa and will redeem himself.

Other news outlets have since reported that Princess Anna may be getting her own power, possibly the power of Spring since her sister already possess the winter power.

The second installment of the record-breaking flick was announced via the Walt Disney Company website. The news was made during Disney's Annual Meeting of Shareholders in San Francisco:

After months of speculation, Bob Iger, John Lasseter and actor Josh Gad (voice of Olaf) announced from the stage that Frozen 2 is officially in development at Walt Disney Animation Studios. The film will reunite the Oscar庐-winning filmmaking team behind Frozen, including director Chris Buck, director/writer Jennifer Lee and producer Peter Del Vecho. A release date and production details are yet to be announced.

"Frozen" was released in Nov. 2013 and has since grossed $1.3 billion globally. It has become the highest selling animated film of all time. It won two Oscars in 2014 for best original song (Let it Go) and best animated feature.

To date, there is no word on actual release date, trailer unveiling or plot details.
