"Girl Meets World" recently went into a winter hiatus with what seemed to be quite a cliffhanger between Lucas, Maya and Riley. While fans are already excited to see the Disney Channel series back for more episodes in Season 2, the show's writers recently revealed that the relationship between Lucas, Riley and Maya is more than just a love triangle.

Warning: Spoilers ahead! Read on if you want to learn more about the details of this story.

"Girl Meets World" Season 2 is down to its last five episodes before the show goes on a break in preparation for its third season on Disney Channel. While the latest episode of the show titled, "Girl Meets New Year" surprised a lot of fans and viewers, as the show finally focused on the longstanding notion of a love triangle between Lucas (Peyton Meyer), Riley (Rowan Blanchard) and Maya (Sabrina Carpenter).

According to Christian Post, Riley was forced to confess her feelings for Lucas before the clock strikes midnight on New Year's Eve. The outlet further noted that this may become the focus of  'GMW' in Season 3, especially because the characters are entering a new chapter of their lives - high school.

Several fans are already in deep conversations as to whether Lucas chooses Maya over Riley or vice versa. Some are already rooting for team Lucas-Riley or "Rucas," as they call the pair while some are excited to see Maya with Lucas. Others, however, believe Lucas should not choose either of the two, as this will affect Maya and Riley's friendship.

It seems like "Girl Meets World" Season 2 will not immediately give answers to the issue between Lucas, Maya and Riley, as Carter Matt reported that the show's writers revealed that their relationship is much more than a love triangle.

"Minor issues resolve quickly. This won't. Because if you know us, you know we'll do much more than a triangle. This all began in the pilot," tweeted Girl Meets Writers.
