"Back to the Future" day has arrived. Fans did not have to be reminded of what the day meant, but those who have no idea what it does mean, it is the exact date when Doc Brown and Marty McFly arrived in the future on the second installment of the franchise, "Back to the Future II."

The "Back to the Future" day may not have been everything the action picture predicted, but some did happen in the past 30 years and some others might just happen in the near future.

The "Back to the Future" showed that by this year, people will already be riding hoverboards or flying cars, but this is yet to happen. The 2015 that Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd) and Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) arrived on back in the 1989 sci-fi film "Back to the Future II" was a whole lot different from our 2015 today. Although there were some futuristic predictions that the movie did mention and that did happen.

In Marty and Doc Brown's travel to the future, Marty was given a pair of self-lacing Nike sneakers to save the former's children. The pair of the same shoes is yet to be released in 2016, which Nike announced during the "Back to the Future" day. The company described the sneakers as something that suits the wearers of this generation. They have also promised that the shoes will have the same self-lacing technology with a well-balanced athletic insight, EnGadget reported.

Nike President and CEO, Mark Parker, commented about the lacing system stating that, "We started creating something for fiction and we turned it into fact, inventing a new technology that will benefit all athletes."

"Back to the Future" inspired shoes will be called the Nike Mag, being a symbol of the pop culture. And the first owner of a pair of these shoes will be Marty McFly himself, Michael J. Fox. Those who want a pair of the limited sneakers may avail of them during the special auction Nike announced for the Spring of 2016, ABC News reported.
