"Castle" Season 8 premiered in September with a promise to bring in more fun and exciting episodes with the introduction of new showrunners, Alexi Hawley and Terence Paul Winter. While the ABC crime drama definitely had some surprising twists, many fans were not exactly thrilled at these new storylines.

According to Carter Matt, the latest episode of "Castle" titled, "The Nose" only drew a 1.1 rating, which was notably lower than last season's average rating in the 18-49 demographic of 1.6. The outlet noted, however, that these figures do not include DVR viewership.

The outlet also offered several explanations for the drop in the ratings for "Castle" Season 8. One of this would have to be the fact that the show runs on a Monday night, which meant it is in competition with other shows like "Blindspot" and Monday Night Football.

Several fans and viewers also took their opinions about "Castle" being cancelled after Season 8. A user named Charles Neale seemingly agreed with the notion that the change in the storyline, especially that of Detective Kate Beckett and Rick Castle's breakup, made it hard to watch. Several users also commented on the fart jokes in the series, which seemed quite off for these two characters.

Meanwhile, MNR Daily reported that "Castle" Season 8 Episode 6 titled, "Cool Boys" will see the return of a familiar face - Adam Baldwin. Baldwin plays the role of Ethan Slaughter and his character was last season in Season 4.
