Lithium-Ion Batteries - Types And Where They Are Used pixabay

Lithium batteries have in most cases replaced alkaline batteries, but lithium batteries need to be upgraded to keep the pace with technology, so 5 types of lithium batteries are currently in use and they are:

- Lithium-Cobalt Oxide batteries - they are most common in mobile phones, cameras and laptops and these batteries discharge more slowly. We all need a mobile phone and a laptop whose battery will last more than a couple of hours, and that is why these batteries are put in mobile phones and laptops. Their price is high, mostly because the price of the cobalt itself is high, which of course affects the price of the battery as well as the price of mobile phones and laptops.

- Lithium-Titanate batteries are batteries of higher capacity and they are used in electric cars, bicycles, but it is also used for smartwatches and tablets. These batteries are resistant to low temperatures, even those down to -40 C.

- Lithium-Nickel Manganese Cobalt Oxide batteries have found use in almost all devices, such as watches, bicycles, cars, motorcycles, but also electric trains.

- Lithium-Manganese Oxide batteries are used in mobile phones, laptops, but they are definitely most used in cars that run on petroleum products and electricity, or in hybrid cars.

- Lithium-Iron Phosphate batteries are mostly used for power tools, household appliances and medical equipment because such batteries are the safest to use when it comes to overheating.

Why Were Lithium Batteries Invented?

The goal of creating lithium-ion batteries is to primarily replace alkaline batteries for several reasons:

- Alkaline batteries are toxic to humans, animals and the environment and by improper disposal, we risk pollution and endanger health. This does not mean that lithium-ion batteries should not be properly disposed of and recycled, but by purchasing lithium-ion batteries and/or devices that use these batteries, we reduce the amount of waste that needs to be properly recycled and disposed of because they last much longer than alkaline batteries do.

- Alkaline batteries are not safe to use because they very often explode and lead to fires, unlike lithium-ion batteries which are made so that each device has a specific lithium-ion battery and thus reduces the risk of overheating the battery causing explosions and fires.

- Alkaline batteries are not rechargeable, that is, they are disposable while lithium-ion batteries are rechargeable, and can be used for a long time depending on the type, size, capacity of the battery and its purpose.

Devices That Have A Lithium-Ion Battery And Are Used Daily By A Large Number Of People

Samsung 25r Lithium-ion batteries have found the most application in two devices used in the household because no one likes cables that protrude everywhere in the house, especially if you have children and pets and thus endanger their safety. The most popular thing used in the household with a lithium-ion battery is a cordless vacuum cleaner. Because it has no cables, it can be stored quickly. Also, robot vacuum cleaners are extremely popular nowadays and they go to the charging point on their own after they've drained a large portion of the power stored in their battery. Even robot vacuum cleaners have become a favourite of both toddlers and pets because they find it interesting to watch a robot vacuum cleaner move through the house on its own.

Mobile phones have become a necessary thing that we can't do without, but more and more often we choose stronger, nicer and newer phones on which we can do everything we can do on laptops and tablets. Such mobile phones require bigger and stronger batteries. Otherwise, our phones would constantly hang on the chargers. Lithium-ion batteries allow us to use mobile phones while they are on the charger, but they also allow us the most important thing, fast charging so that we are always ready to move.

Electric cigarettes or vape pens - as awareness of the use of electric cigarettes and the harmful effects of tobacco smoke has risen, these cigars are becoming increasingly popular, especially among people who want to be healthier and quit smoking altogether.
