'iPad Pro' Release Date, Rumors & Price: New Case Leak Confirms Oversized Device, First Look at Exteriors [Rumors]

Apple is expected to launch an oversized tablet, dubbed as the "iPad Pro" or the "iPad Air Plus." While the tech firm has stayed mum on the subject, a new protection case leak may provide more information on the expected device.

The image, published by a French site, via MacRumors, provides a first look at a possible casing accessory and a general understanding of the size, button placement and overall external appearance of the rumored tablet.

The site claims that the photo of the protective mold was from a reputable source associated with the site for a number of years.

The iPad Pro is expected to be hit the 12-inch mark, with reports indicating it could be either a 12.2-inch or 12.9-inch device. Based on the newly released photo leak, the case is large enough to fit a tablet of that size.

The accessory sports four cutouts in each corner which is believed to be for the speakers of the Pro tablet. BGR notes that earlier rumors regarding the larger iPad have indicated that Apple is looking to provide an enhanced sound quality.

Other cutouts of the case show similar placements of buttons and function settings that include the standby button, volume controls, headset jack, lighting port as well as the rear camera. However, there is an additional cutout on the left side which MacRumors suggests could be for a SIM tray, for cellular data devices.

Rumored iPad Pro Specs

Various sites are analyzing the iPad Pro to be a game-changer in the tech world. Over the past few years, Apple has pushed for slimmer, smaller devices and it was only with the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus that we've seen Apple opt for larger mobile devices.

The Pro tablet is expected to be a larger and more powerful mobile tablet that offers both increased productivity and creativity.

The iPad Pro is expected to come with 2GB of RAM, multiple storage capacity (16GB, 64GB and 128GB), Touch ID sensor, iSight camera and either an A8X or A9 processor -- an upgraded version of the chip currently in the iPhone 6 models.

Additionally, the iPad Pro could sport a 4K-display (4096 x 3072), an improvement from the present 2048 x 1536 resolution of the iPad Air 2, notes Trusted Reviews. The super-thin tablet is also expected to come with a stylus, believed to carry the "iPen" moniker.
