'MLB 15: The Show' Release Date, Gameplay, Features: What to Expect from New Baseball Game

While baseball fans await the return of the Major League Baseball season this April, gamers who rely on their consoles for their baseball fix would not have to wait that long. Word is out that the "MLB 15: The Show" is coming out on March.

"MLB 15: The Show" is the much awaited follow-up to "MLB 14." According to Game Spot, this year's sequel would include not only additional features but a lot of improvements from the previous versions as well.

Perhaps one major thing fans of the game could look forward to is the franchise feature. If the player was able to purchase "MLB 14: The Show," then he/she would be able to continue the franchise to the upcoming one. The Road to the Show progress would also move forward to the latest version.

Sony San Diego, the game's developer, has also added a Directional Hitting Interface, a first in the game's history, said IGN. This feature helps players control the direction of hits upon swinging the bat. Players could influence balls in play such as ground balls, fly balls, pulled and pushed hits with the use of the L-stick.

Gameplay has also been improved in the latest version. A post in the PlayStation Blog mentioned upgrades in the slide and tag system used in the game. The developers have also boosted the ball's movements for fly balls, pop ups as well as shots into gaps.

Players would also be able to better control the speed of their fielders and base runners in "MLB 15: The Show."

An enhanced motion system has been added to match the speed of players from the run to the catch and the throw motion.

For the graphics, IGN noted that a seasonal sun and shadows have been added to show the time of day in real-time. Sony San Diego has also upgraded the night light system of the game for better viewing. However, the latter enhancements are for PS4 consoles only.

PS4 players would also have access to additional Minor League Stadiums in the new version.

New players would be added to "MLB 15: The Show." A total of 30 legendary baseball players would be included in the list. Once a player collects a complete team, he could unlock an alumni player from the team he collected. This feature is available to PS3, PS4 and PS Vita.

"MLB 15: The Show" is arriving on March 31, 2015. No price has been announced for the new videogame yet.
