'Jurassic World' Trailer, Plot & Dinosaurs: Actor Leaks New Set Details & Teases Backstory

Actor Jake Johnson teased a bit about his work on the new "Jurassic" sequel, "Jurassic World."

The "New Girl" actor spoke to MTV about how intimidating being part of the project felt along with some comments on director-writer Colin Trevorrow and his impression in the film.

"They're my friends," said Johnson of Colin Trevorrow, and writing partner Derek Connolly whom he worked with on "Safety Not Guaranteed." "We were here at Sundance with this indie movie we made for $600,000 - and then we're on the ['Jurassic World'] set."

"It's a doubt I've never gotten," said the 36-year-old actor "about how normal it was between movement and set. ... When Colin calls, 'Quiet!' It's only like, 'Alright, now I'm operative with Derek and Colin's words.'"

Of course with all the secrecy surrounding the film, Johnson didn't want to reveal too much about his role.

"I got cut out of the movie," joked the "Digging For Fire" actor. "I'm murdered before the movie even starts. My character is all back story."

Plot Details

In earlier interviews, Trevorrow has shared some details as to the film's storyline. During a talk with SlashFilm, the movie director revealed, "Jurassic World takes place in a fully functional park on Isla Nublar."

He further added that the park "sees more than 20,000 visitors every day. ... It has elements of a biological preserve, a safari, a zoo, and a theme park. There is a luxury resort with hotels, restaurants, nightlife and a golf course. And there are dinosaurs. Real ones. You can get closer to them than you ever imagined possible. It's the realization of John Hammond's dream, and I think you'll want to go there."

The film takes place 22 years after the events of the previous film and Chris Pratt's role is that of a behavioral scientist focused on research about raptors and the possibilities of human-dinosaur relationships.

"Chris Pratt's character is doing behavioral research on the raptors. They aren't trained, they can't do tricks. He's just trying to figure out the limits of the relationship between these highly intelligent creatures and human beings. If people don't think there's potential in those ideas, maybe they won't like this movie. But I ask them to give it a chance," commented the director.

Trevorrow has also shared that fans will be introduced to a new species of dinosaur "created by the park's geneticists."

"Jurassic World" stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Vincent D'Onofrio, Irrfan Khan, and Ty Simpkins. The film hits theaters on June 12.
