'Apple Watch' Price, Release Date & Review: Cook Confirms April Shipment, Says He 'can't live without it'

Apple CEO Tim Cook shared new details regarding the highly-anticipated Apple Watch.

During the tech firm's earnings call covering 2015's first fiscal quarter, Cook updated that the Apple Watch is currently under development and is scheduled for shipment sometime in April, reports MacRumors.

"Development for Apple Watch is right on schedule, and we expect to begin shipping in April," said Cook.

Since the launch of the wearable technology last fall -- alongside the two iPhone 6 models -- all that Apple has shared is the Watch's arrival sometime in "early 2015."

While many assumed that "early 2015" meant the first quarter of the year, per Cook, they are still within their target timeline. He explained that Apple considers a three-way division of the year, as opposed to the standard quarters. The first four months are considered, "early," the next four "mid" with the last four months to be "late" in the year.

The successor of Steve Jobs expressed satisfaction with the product and confessed, "My expectations are very high on it. I'm using it every day and love it and can't live without it.

Analysts have mixed reviews as to the market performance of the Apple Watch, reports Cult of Mac. Some believe it will have poor sales, while others believe the device has the capacity to dominate the growing wearables market.

Cook is more than optimistic. Revealing he's impressed with the work of developers, the head of the Cupertino-based company shared, "We're seeing some incredible innovation."

The device will start at $349 for its most basic version and increase as opt for upgraded features. Rumors indicate that the most high-end model of the Apple Watch could hit and go beyond the thousand dollar mark.

So far, we do know that the Watch would require nightly charging, per Apple estimates, with an estimated 19 hours of battery life for "mixed use." Consumers can expect two-and-a-half to four hours of battery life if it will be used heavily.

CNet also notes that compared to other Apple products, the Apple Watch has more models and options with two watch sizes, three collections (Apple Watch, Apple Watch Sport and Apple Watch Edition) as well as five different bands.

The Apple Watch, initially thought to be called the "iWatch," will connect to the internet through the iPhone. It has the ability to track your fitness data, send as well as receive messages and make use of Apple Pay payments.

The Apple Watch is the first entirely new device to be launched by Apple in five years. The last new line was the iPad tablet.
