'Samsung Galaxy S6' Release Date, Specs & Price: Two Models, S6 and Edge, Confirmed by Vodafone?

There has been a lot of speculation surrounding the launch of Samsung's newest flagship smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S6.

Many believe that the 2015 upgrade will have not one, but like Apple, a two model release. While nothing has been officially confirmed regarding the expected handsets, carrier Vodafone Netherlands' website may have just leaked some serious information on the sixth-generation smartphone and its two versions.

According to Galaxy Club, a Dutch publication, via SamMobile, the carrier listed image placeholders for the Galaxy S6 as well as the rumored S6 Edge version, which was called, "Galaxy S Edge."

The publication wrote in its report:

"According to a Vodafone website, the dual-edged screen version of the Galaxy S6 that we're talking about - earlier believed to be the Galaxy S6 Edge - will be known simply as the Galaxy S Edge. Now, that might not make a lot of sense at first, but when you go to think of it, the Note Edge too lacks the '4′ in the name, which suggests Samsung thinks of it as a completely different phone rather than just a Note 4 variant."

Samsung released an innovative Galaxy Note Edge last September alongside the Galaxy Note 4, which sported a curved panel design -- that functions separately from the main display -- for quicker notification and ease of use. The round-off display was positively received due to its ability to allow users to navigate their phone with much more efficiency through the use of shortcut apps that can be reached quickly when needed.

It was believed that aside from the metal design changes Samsung has made in its recent smartphone releases, the Galaxy S6 will be launched with a second edge-model.

Based on the release of the Note 4 and the Edge, we can expect similar specs from the two devices.

The S6 and S Edge is believed to sport a Snapdragon 810 quad-core processor (although overheating reports indicate we could see a 64-bit Exynos processor), 5.5-inch display, preprogrammed with Android 5.0 Lollipop, 3GB or 4GB of RAM, 32G of internal storage (expandable, of course) and 16 to 20-MP rear camera.

The South Korean-based tech firm is expected to unveil the phone in March during the Mobile World Congress to be held in Barcelona. Specifically, many sources are reporting that Samsung may be introducing the new devices on March 2, the first day of the massive tech event. The devices generally hit the shelves about six weeks after the launch making it available mid-April.

There has been no price indication for the Galaxy S6 but it's believed to cost around $850 or £549 SIM-free.
