Manny Pacquiao Next Fight: Mayweather Out? Amir Khan-PacMan Fight Confirmed [Rumors]

Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao has given Floyd Mayweather Jr. until the end of the month to agree to the highly-anticipated May 2nd fight or he'll move on.

While the 36-year-old champion was in London, BBC reports that he met with the British welterweight, 38, at Fitzroy Lodge Boxing Club to discuss a potential fight at Wembley Stadium.

The two boxers have a long relationship after training together for several years under coach Freddie Roach. In the past, a fight never happened because of that friendship. However, it seems, now things are different.

"Even though we have that friendship, if it makes sense then it's a fight that can certainly happen between us," Khan said, quoted BBC. "I want to fight the biggest and best names out there and Manny is definitely among them."

The alternative bout is now something that may come to light should the Mayweather-Pacquaio fight fall through.

The Daily Mail referred to the talk between the two boxers as an "informal man-to-man discussions about an alternative superbout in case Floyd Mayweather fails to call either of them for his next megafight."

"Just in case Floyd doesn't come through we regard Amir as the best possible alternative," said Pacquiao's adviser Michael Koncz to the publication. "He and Manny would make for a very exciting fight and Manny would be more than happy to do it at Wembley Stadium. We are looking at that possibility and also Abu Dhabi as another potential venue. But of course we are still working on Mayweather."

The meeting marked the conclusion of a London trip PacMan took with wife Jinkee that included a dinner Thursday at Buckingham Palace with boxing fan Prince Harry.

Pacquiao has won world titles in eight while Mayweather is an undefeated American champion. The boxer-politician along with his promoter Bob Arum has already confirmed they've agreed to all the demands put forth by Mayweather's team and are just waiting for Mayweather to sign his contract.

Discussions of a fight between the Filipino and American has been taking place for six years and has fallen through at each attempt due to an inability to agree on terms.

Mayweather himself has countered statements by Pacquiao's camp that the fight is set to happen. Speaking to Shade 45 Radio on SirisumXM, he admits that fights are ongoing but still need to be finalized.

"Once again, I've been saying this for the longest: Pacquiao has no say so because Pacquiao fights under Top Rank Promotions. I have Mayweather Promotions. Mayweather Promotions is my company. Pacquiao is not in a position to call any shots as of right now and he's not the 'A' side. Everything everybody has been hearing has been rumors.

"Do I want to fight Pacquiao? Absolutely. Are we negotiating? Absolutely. Has the fight been made? Not at all," he said.

The Pacquiao-Mayweather superfight is set to take place on May 2 in Las Vegas' MGM Grand Garden.
