Lakers News & Trade: LAL Still Most Popular Team in USA Despite Standings

The NBA mid-season break is happening soon and many teams are still scrambling on their way to go up the standings. But it seems that team performance in the league is not much of an issue for the Los Angeles Lakers as they continue to be the country's favorite hoops team in spite of their current record.

A map released by Twitter showed the purple and gold team to be one of the nation's top favorites, reported SB Nation. According to the map, Kobe Bryant's team is the No. 1 pick in California and in many other parts of the country.

Just recently, basketball blogger James H got into a Twitter war with someone who went by the username '@MyTweetsRealAF,' reported SB Nation in a separate article. The word ward on social media came about when nasty tweets have been exchanged between the two over LA Laker's guard, Kobe Bryant.

The social media squabble almost turned into a real fight when the guy demanded James to a fight in Temecula. Fortunately, the blogger was nowhere near the area and it didn't push through.

The LA Lakers are nowhere near their goal of becoming championship contenders with a record of 12-27. However, there is hope that the team could pull it off with a few trades.

According to a report by the Latino Post, the Lakers are exploring a possible trade with Detroit Pistons. However, it's not clear whether it would include Brandon Jennings or Greg Monroe, or possibly even both. It seems that the management is looking at a younger talent to boost their current roster.

Sports World Report, on the other hand, dropped New York Knicks' Jose Calderon's name as one of the possible options Lakers is looking at. On the other hand, Deron Williams is another good option as the Brooklyn Nets is also considering to dispose themselves of an expensive contract.

However, the management of United States' most favorite team, according to Twitter, has not made any concrete move on any of these players so it remains to be seen if any of these rumors would materialize or just simply go away.

Meanwhile, another trouble seems to be brewing at the Lakers home court as coach Byron Scott is seriously thinking of sitting down crowd-favorite Kobe Bryant when the team returns from the off-season, said Inquisitr.

Bryant's performance during their recent matches was not impressive. The Hall Of Famer even missed out on crucial points that could have won them the game against Miami Heat.

But all this is not yet final and Scott could still change his mind. Fans would just have to wait and see if the coach would come through his word in March.
