Pacquiao vs Mayweather Fight 2015: Floyd is 'So Boring' Says Roy Jones Jr; Beating Manny Now 'Irrelevant'

The boxing world had gone euphoric when Floyd Mayweather finally agreed to fight Manny Pacquaio next year. When the news came out, predictions seemed to pour down as avalanche on eager fans that have long fantasized over the dream fight.

It appears that Mayweather is now as confident as ever that his perfect record will not be tainted by even the Pacman himself. However, Roy Jones Jr., once hailed as the pound-for-pound king, flailed around the American boxer regarding his fights against Maidana, his fighting style, and the upcoming dream match against Pacquiao. He says Mayweather is nothing but "boring."

Jones Jr. who currently works as an HBO Boxing analyst remarked that even though Mayweather beats Pacquiao in 2015, it would not make any difference to his career; it would just be counterproductive for him.

Sports World News shares what the former boxing champ said about Mayweather: "He's so boring that if he beats Pacquiao he's irrelevant then. Because if he beats Manny Pacquiao who else do we want to see Floyd Mayweather fight? Or dance with, I should say? He danced with Maidana for 24 rounds. The most exciting thing that happened was Maidana bit him and he didn't even draw blood. And he's screaming. At least Tyson bit Holyfield's ear off. At least he had to go to surgery. He [Maidana] didn't even draw blood..."

Jones' remarks sound so different from those he made earlier this year.

In an interview by Hustle Boss, Jones Jr. was all praise to Mayweather: "In boxing today he's the best. He's the best marketing-wise. He's the best skill-wise right now. He's just the best out there right now. Aint none of these guys equipped with enough tools to really give him problems, except Pacquiao. He's pound for pound number one by far and he's doing his thing."

But perhaps Floyd's famous playing style of dancing, hugging, and running around the ring proved to be a lame leverage to become the world's best pound-for-pound fighter. No wonder Roy Jones turned upside down in his opinion about the American.

Roy Jones Jr. ripped Mayweather even more by emphasizing Floyd's "fraidy-cat" attitude: "And he's crying to the referee - 'he bit me, he bit me'... that's the highlight of twenty-four rounds of boxing, from pound for pound, supposedly, the best fighter in the world. What the hell are we doing now? And it's going to be an asterisk, because even if he takes him out now, Pacquiao is far beyond his prime so it doesn't mean anything", Boxingscene reports.

Well, this is not to say Mayweather is really boring but a match that's full of running and dancing? That's absolutely boring. So, Roy Jones Jr. may just be right in his comments.
