'The Walking Dead' Season 5 Spoilers: Will Morgan's Return Benefit Rick & The Gang?

While fans are still reeling from the death of Beth in the season 5 of "The Walking Dead", spoilers have been sprouting left and right on which fan-favorite is going to be killed next. Aside from that, a critical character seen in the first few seasons is rumored to be coming back next year.

Morgan Jones might be joining the gang of Rick in the second half of season 5.

Morgan's character, played by Lennie James, was initially introduced in the series when Rick Grimes woke up from his coma, with no memory of what happened in season 1. Grimes discovered the grisly fate that has befallen their city, and probably the rest of the world through Morgan.

He also taught Rick how to kill the undead, perhaps a major part of his survival. There was no word on Morgan from the rest of the season until the third.

Rick encountered a deranged Morgan when he returned to his hometown to gather some supplies. It was discovered that he has had a breakdown after killing his undead wife after she bit their only son. Little became known of Morgan after Rick, Carl and Michonne left him in the town. Fans of the series are left assuming he'd soon be dead.

However, Morgan was seen following Rick and the rest in the first half of season 5. The group is on their way to the Alexandria Safe-Zone and had no idea someone is following them.

Celeb Dirty Laundry speculated that he has recovered some of his sanity and has tracked after following signs for the Terminus. While it's not yet clear what reason Morgan has for following Rick, it seems that his character will play a powerful role in the second half of season 5. Fans are anticipating that his character would be explored more in the coming episodes.

Showrunner Scott M. Gimple told Deadline that the events of the season's first half would play a major factor in the development of the other characters in the second half. Of Beth's death, he noted, "I will say that this isn't the last devastating event to befall these characters."

Gimple added, "They are being tested and they are being pushed and this isn't the end of that." Talking about the remaining episodes of this season, Gimple teased that most characters would be "ground down into Earth."

While he was unable to reveal most of the scenes to be expected, Gimple said that fans could definitely expect a lot of changes. "But then things change suddenly and we find ourselves in a very different situation where the rules that were a part of the situation that had been in really don't apply anymore. And the people that they become may not jive with the situation they find themselves in," he noted.

The Walking Dead will resume season 5 on February 2015.
