NBA Trade Rumors: Rajon Rondo Moves to Mavericks? [Rumors]

Rumors have it that the Boston Celtics have made an agreement with the Dallas Mavericks to trade off point guard Rajon Rondo, CBS Sports reported.

CBS Sports Basketball Insider Ken Berger claimed that the agreement for Rondo between the Celtics and Dallas will push through on several conditions.

The Celtics will reportedly be waiving center Vitor Faverani to make room for several players from Dallas, namely: forward Jae Crowder, center Brandan Wright and veteran point guard Jameer Nelson. Dallas has also been asked to dole out a conditional first and second round draft pick to the Celtics.

However, sites such as Boston Globe, USA Today and Yahoo have confirmed the news, saying the agreement was finalized on Thursday, ending Rondo's nine long years with the Celtics as a four-time All-Star point guard. It was also reported that the team added in forward Dwight Powell in the trade.

Celtics president of basketball operation Danny Ainge already gave parting words, saying, "We would like to thank Rajon for everything that he has done for the Celtics organization and the success we have experienced during his tenure with us."

It looks like the new Celtics, sans Rondo and Powell, would be arriving come Saturday and will prepare for their match against Miami Heat on Sunday, with either Phil Pressey or Evan Turner replacing Rondo temporarily, according to Boston Globe.

The Mavericks had to work over the heads of other teams also eyeing Rando, such as the Seattle SuperSonics, Minnesota Timberwolves, Phoenix Sun, Memphis Grizzlies and Detroit Pistons, Boston Globe added.

With the trade, the Mavericks are now looking at a starting lineup with Rondo as point guard, Chandler Parsons as small forward, Monta Ellis as shooting guard, Tyson Chandler as center and power forward Dirk Nowitzki. The trade with Rondo is looking to be a bid to create a championship team, USA Today noted.

However, Rondo isn't the only player on the trade block as the NBA trade season unofficially begins and teams are starting to size up players and their trade prospects, according to Bleacher Report.

Rumors are looking at many players being traded, such as Portland Trail Blazers Wesley Matthews going to the Cleveland Cavaliers and Minnesota Timberwolves Corey Brewer being eyed up by the Houston Rockets.

Los Angeles Clippers player Jamal Crawford might end up with the Denver Nuggets, Oklahoma City Thunders or even the Sacramento Kings. The entire New York Knicks team might also end up getting split up, except for Carmelo Anthony.

For now though, everything is just rumors and like Rondo's move to the Mavs, fans will have to wait for more confirmation on which player is going where.
