‘Star Wars 7’ Release Date, Trailer & Plot: Original Trilogy Comics Gets Reprint Before 'Force Awakens'

To amp up anticipation for "Stars Wars: The Force Awakens" coming next year, Marvel Comics will be reprinting the comic book adaptations of the original three films of the franchise, Digital Trends reported.

It's a full year before "The Force Awakens" hits theaters next year on Dec. 18, and Marvel is encouraging fans and interested moviegoers to check out the first three films of the franchise before the seventh installment is released. This refers to 1977's "Star Wars," 1980's "The Empire Strikes Back" and 1983's "Return of the Jedi," which are chronologically episodes four to six of the franchise.

However, to make it even easier for old fans to reminisce and new fans to catch up to everything that's going on, the comic book adaptations will be reprinted throughout 2015, complete with recolored pages and hardcover editions. They will kick things off on May 2015 with the reissue of "Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope."

Marvel's senior vice-president of sales and marketing David Gabriel also added that the adaptations for "Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi" will follow come late 2015.

While Marvel is increasing the hype, they have kept mum on the direction and story of the film and so far there is very few that is known about "Stars Wars VII."

In recent news, a new addition to the film's cast has been announced, with British actress Maisie Richardson-Sellers playing a part in the JJ Abrams-helmed film, according to Telegraph.

Richardson-Sellers, a familiar face for those who watch The CW's "The Originals," confirmed the news to fashion magazine Refinery 29. She said she was one among thousands of people who auditioned for the film and expressed admiration for Abrams for casting unknown talent, adding that everything about the film was "very, very secret."

While Richardson-Sellers did not reveal her role, she might be portraying a descendant of Jedi Knight Ben Kenobi based on early drafts of the film's script, according to Comic Book Movie.

Andy Serkis also recently made headlines after rumors erupted that he was playing more than one role and cleared the rumors saying he was only cast for one role, which will remain unnamed for now, according to Daily Mail.

"These things will all come out in the fullness of time, I promise," he said.

The film will pick up 30 years after the end of "Return of the Jedi," and Serkis will be joining the original cast Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Peter Mayhew, Anthony Daniels and more.

For now, fans can look back at the trailer released and await more news about the film before it comes out on Dec. 18, 2015.
