Samsung Galaxy Grand 3 Release Date, Specs & Price: Slimmest Phone Revealed in Leak? [Rumors]

Enthusiasts are now pumped up for the new Samsung Galaxy Grand 3 after its predecessor's successful release in 2013, with the latest Samsung phone's specifications leaked online.

According to The Fuse Joplin, the latest addition to the mobile company's elite line of smartphones is set to break the record for being Samsung's slimmest smartphone at 6.3 millimeters thick in comparison to Galaxy Grand 2's 8.9 millimeters.

Further comparison of the two Galaxy Grand models was made in a separate report published on the website, where Grand 3 was portrayed as an upgraded version of Samsung's Galaxy Grand 2.

Though Grand 3 has a similar thickness to that of Samsung's A7, it is rumored to be the only mid-range device with a 5.5-inch display that uses a 720 by 1280 resolution with 267 ppi pixel density.

Meanwhile, Grand 2 boasts a slightly smaller display with 5.25 inches TFT screen and has a 280 ppi density, but that does not mean it is clearer than its newer version which sports IPS LCD.

The Galaxy Grand 3 is also rumored to be operating with a 64-bit Snapdragon 410 chipset while its predecessor runs in a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset. Both come with a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and 1.5 gigabytes of random access memory (RAM).

Though running at a 64-bit does not necessarily mean that the device's speed would be doubled, it would definitely make a lot of difference when it comes to mobile applications that are already running on the same specs.

The Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 has an 8-megapixel camera with an LED flash at the back and a 1.9 MP front facing camera which can take photos having a maximum resolution of 3264 x 2448. Its upgraded version, however, is rumored to have a higher resolution with a 13-megapixel sensor back camera and a 5-megapixel front snapper.

Much like their other new phones, Samsung's upcoming handset would be running on Google's Android KitKat 4.4 with 16 gigabytes worth of internal memory which can be expanded using a microSD memory card.

However, the Master Herald says there's no reason why the upcoming Samsung unit would still run on the 4.4.4 Android version when most smartphones these days are already on the new Android 5.0.

"In the end, the Grand 3 will likely do what it's supposed to do quite nicely, and if it retains the same price point, it will be a good entry in the market by Samsung, despite the questionable choice with the operating system," the Master Herald report explained.

The Samsung Galaxy Grand 3 does not have a definite release date yet but reports suggest that the device is truly coming.
