‘Transformers 5' Release Date, Cast & Plot: Optimus Prime Allies With Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles?

Rumors about Transformers crossing over with the world of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have surfaced over the past week, leaving fans drooling for more updates.

After the box office success of "Transformers: Age of Extinction," fans of the mechanical heroes are intently awaiting news about what the next installment of the film would be like, the International Business Times UK reported.

According to the report, rumors appeared saying that Optimus Prime and the rest of the gang would be joining the Turtles due to reports of TMNT director Jonathan Liebesman's involvement in the production of the fifth Transformers film.

Entertainment website Enstarz reported about the recent development on the two action movies hinting at a possibility of a crossover, drawing analysis from a past report about a crossover on the "Age of Extinction."

This is not the first time rumors of a crossover between the two had circulated on the nternet.

A report from ScreenRant.com posted two years ago had also hinted at the possibility of the two worlds meeting via a leaked script. What's even more is that the author of the TMNT script review said "they took the whole version down after receiving a Cease and Desist order from a legal firm that represents Paramount."

Here are both film's trailers:

Further, recent news on Paramount Pictures' resident director Michael Bay's exit from the franchise opened up several possibilities, Variety reported.

Bay announced in August that he would not be directing the next installment of "Transformers," reportedly because he is eyeing a new Paramount film that does not involve larger-than-life mechanical creatures.

Bay's leave from the franchise may also mean Megan Fox's return to the film's next installment, says the IB Times. In its second installment, Fox left the franchise and was replaced as the female lead due to a rift with the former Transformers director.

While speculations on the next installment of the franchise are being made, its creator, Paramount Pictures, is remaining silent.
