Here's a look at a beautiful penthouse that can be found atop San Francisco's historic clock tower.
According to Elle Décor, the Clock Tower in San Francisco's SoMa neighborhood was first built some 94 years ago. The tower's design was reflective of the city's economic prowess.
The tower, which is relatively huge, also occupies two full blocks at Second and Bryant streets. Back in 1993, the tower was renovated and was transformed into a 127-loft property that was designed by David Baker.
At present, the penthouse inside the tower is on sale at $8.5 million. It features two bedrooms and an exclusive access to the three stories rising into the storied Clock Tower.
The current owners of the penthouse, Tom and Carol Burkhart, revealed why they decided to buy the penthouse a few years ago, according to SFGate.
"We'd just sit there on our living room, salivating thinking it would be amazing to live in that tower. And then it went on the market and then we went to the open house. There were probably 50 people walking around. The place was so wide open. It was amazing," they said.
"Our real estate broker happened to be there and said, 'Most people couldn't live in this place, but you two could.' We'd just spent nine months remodeling across the street, but I couldn't resist. I made an offer with two contingencies for a significantly lower price," Tom said.
The Clock Tower penthouse stretches at approximately 3,000 square feet. It also has two baths, a modern kitchen, a spacious living and a glass-enclosed fireplace.
