The former NASA astronaut who is best known as the commander of the Apollo 13 mission, Captain James Lovell, is selling his Texas lake house for $3.5 million. According to the Wall Street Journal, the captain and his wife bought the property in 1988 and designed and built the four-bedroom residence on site.

It features a double-height living room and a five-round stained glass window which depict the insignia from Apollo 13 and his other space missions. It was also the place where Lowell hosted actor Tom Hanks in 1995 when he was invited to stay for a long weekend while preparing for his role as the captain in the movie "Apollo 13."

Listing details reveal that it is a remarkable lake house and it is situated in one of the highly sought-after location in Texas. It has a captivating 130 feet of waterfront, and the place can provide ultimate enjoyment of the use of the lake.

The home has outstanding architectural details which make it stand out and unique from the other homes in the area. The Mediterranean-style house has a total living space of 4,900 square feet, and the large windows in the property offer stunning views of the lake. According to the listing, the house is fully furnished and the new owner will only need to move in.

The residence sits on about half an acre of land, and outside there is a boathouse and an outdoor bath tub. It was reported that that the couple is selling the property because it became difficult to travel in the area since they got rid of a Cessna 421 Golden Eagle which they used to travel back and forth between the lake house and their primary home in Lake Forest. The 88-year-old captain said that they won't be using the property anymore since their children are now adults and are located in different parts of the country.
