Celebrity Real Estate: Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti Sold Echo Park Home for $1.705M

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti must still be confident that he will continue for another term as mayor as he recently sold another home in Echo Park for $1.705 million. According to Los Angeles Curbed, Garcetti and his wife Amy Wakeland bought the property in 2000 for $345,000. It was said that the price increase was due to a number of renovations that the couple has done through the years. Before placing the property on the selling market, the place was available for rent for $4,500 a month since 2011.

Listing details of the property reveal that the three-bedroom, two-bathroom house which sits on about half an acre of land was originally built in 1953. The couple added some environmental upgrades to the place like solar panels and recycled plastic sliding doors. There is also a terraced organic vegetable garden and citrus orchard in the backyard where they reportedly grew their own food. There is also an outdoor patio where one can relax and enjoy the stunning views of the area.

The expansion was headed by Architect Elissa Scarfano and more modern features were added to the place. The interior features a flexible open floor plan with high ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows which give the place a lot of natural light. The great room has a double-sided fireplace and can accommodate a lot of people. The bedroom located on the first floor has an en-suite living space while the master bedroom and the second bedroom are located on the second floor.

This is the latest real estate listing of Garcetti. Just last year, he and his wife sold another home in Silver Lake to the leader of the band M83, Anthony Gonzalez for $1.9 million. The current mayor and his family have been living in the Getty House for the past two years, and it seems like he is confident that his family will still be staying there after the elections.
