Is Your Cluttered Desk Making You Lazy and Stressed All Day?

Time and time again, you might have heard of the saying "Messy bed, messy head." As it turns out, your bed is not the only thing that may be an unnecessary source of stress in your life. A study reveals that a cluttered desk may be to blame for your laziness.

Research from Princeton University revealed that visual clutter helps compete with the brain's ability to focus on one thing alone, House Beautiful reported.

"The more objects in the visual field, the harder the brain has to work to filter them out, causing it to tire over time and reducing its ability to function," stated Psychology professor Sabine Kastner.

This means that any clutter that you see at home, in the office, or anywhere you are at, has the tendency to cloud your mind, which will then make you feel restless and tired.

Therefore, if you often find yourself getting stressed immediately after getting to work, maybe you shouldn't entirely put the blame on your co-workers or your boss. Maybe the culprit is in your cluttered desk.

Don't worry! There is an easy solution to quickly put things back into perspective, lessen the stress and organize your desk (and your mind) in no time.

Style at Home reported on three simple steps to quickly and easily organize your desk.

According to the publication, the first thing that you need to do is to choose the right desk for you. The right desk would always depend on the way you use it. If you use the desk for personal uses, then a small desk would work out just fine. For those of you who work eight hours in the office, however, may require a desk with at least one drawer and enough space to move into.

Another tip is to keep the desk uncluttered at all times. If there's something on it that isn't used majority of the time, then maybe it'd be best to keep it in the drawer in order to keep the ones you use most of the time close at hand.
