'Star Wars Episode 7' Trailer, Plot & News: Mark Hamill Talks Trailer & Cast, Says Seeing People "Happy Was A Thrill"

Original "Star Wars" cast Mark Hamill has weighed in on the controversy regarding the new installment's trailer as well as the film's cast. The iconic fiction actor says that the first trailer for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" was emotional for him.

According to IGN, the star says the joy and excitement the film and trailer brings is what moves him the most.

The 63-year-old actor revealed: "To see so many people that happy was a thrill. And it's hard to believe it's a whole year away that we have to wait but I'm practicing my phrase, 'You have to wait and see.' They asked me not to talk about it and I agreed but it's hard. People want to know!"

Noting that the 88-second trailer focused on the film's new cast members, namely Daisy Ridley and John Boyega, Hamill said that the new breed of franchise actors are "wonderful."

"I think they've done such a great job of not only the characters themselves, but the people they've picked to play them. John Boyega is just wonderful and Daisy, I just think the world of and Adam Driver and Oscar Isaac and Andy Serkis. They're just... Like I say, this is in very, very good hands. I'm vicariously very proud of them even though I have no justification for being able to be proud!"

Walt Disney Co. chief Bob Iger told Variety during an interview about the upcoming "Star Wars" theme park attraction, the details of the highly-anticipated film is being kept under wraps.

"[Director J.J. Abrams] is known for wanting to keep footage of his films under wraps. But the rabid 'Star Wars' fanbase prompted Disney to come up with the brief introduction of what the new film would look like," wrote Variety via Aceshowbiz.

The seventh installment of the popular sci-fi series is directed by J.J. Abrams who worked throughout the summer shooting in both Pinewood Studios in London, as well as in Abu Dhabi, reports The Rolling Stone.

The film's plot takes place 30 years after the events of "Episode VI: Return of the Jedi" and will feature a mix of both original and new cast members.
