AirBnB Recreates Bedroom In Arles, The Iconic Van Gogh Painting

Airbnb, the popular website for home-sharing, has replicated the famous painting by Vincent Willem Van Gogh into a real life bedroom for the public to rent out. Van Gogh is a Dutch post-Impressionist painter whose paintings have influenced the works like that of Pablo Picasso.

Chicago Tribune reports that for $10 the public can rent out a one-bedroom apartment that can be found in River North which was taken from the painting of the famous painter. This was part of the Art Institute of Chicago's latest exhibition effort by extending the experience to public with an opportunity to "step into Van Gogh's paintings."

The room was leased and transformed into the 19th century room in Yellow House in Arles, France seen in Van Gogh's painting. The transformation took four weeks to complete by a team hired by the Art Institute. However, an exception was done in the bed which was a full-size one which in the painting was a twin-sized bed.

Huffington Post adds that the painting entitled "The Bedroom" shows a golden bed frame, a towel, two chairs and wooden floors in a blue room. All of which will cost a total of $14 good for two persons a night.

Other than the unbelievable low charging rate, the host that identified himself as "Vincent" even adds a teaser that he will be glad to provide tickets to his exhibition. There are two other paintings by Van Gogh which features domestic spaces. All were finished in 1888 to 1889. The painters' entire collection with a total of 36 art works will be shown until May 10, 2016.

Curbed says that the room "will make you feel like you're living in a painting." To the dismay of many, remaining days for the room to be supposedly rented out is has already been claimed.

What do you think about the replication of the artwork by Van Gogh in a room in Chicago?
