Dropped Calls? Find Out How to Boost Cell Phone Signal at Home

Most people experience dropped calls especially when they are situated inside a closed space. If you have grown tired of reaching out to the edge of your window in hopes of getting signal for your cell phone, here are some ways to boost your phone's signal at home.

A study performed by the Pew Research Center in 2015 revealed that 72 percent of cell phone owners experienced dropped calls and 32 percent said that this problem often takes place a few times a week.

While there are certain factors as to why certain cell phone owners experience dropped calls more than others do, there are ways you can boost cell phone signal at home.

According to Trulia, the use of a cellphone booster is becoming increasingly popular, especially in areas where there is not much signal. How does a cellphone booster work?

"A traditional cell signal booster takes in a signal on one end, amplifies it, and spits it out on the other end," said Graham Caparulo from Diligex, a NY-based IT services provider.

A cellphone booster, however, comes at a hefty price tag, so you definitely need to carefully consider if you really need one. A cell phone signal booster is priced at $400 - $1,000.

Aside from the price, you also need to register the booster with your cellphone carrier. You will also need to choose a good location, which ideally is one that has good reception, to install the booster.

In case you were wondering why dropped calls are still rampant in this day and age, the aforementioned publication noted that your distance from the cell towers and certain obstructions may be the reasons behind all this.

Green houses may also experience lower phone signals because tinted windows are counted as obstructions to reception coming from the towers. Other materials such as concrete and metal also do the same thing of keeping your phone from getting the maximum signal.
