GoGet, Dexus Partner up to Provide Exclusive Car-Share Services to Tenants of Dexus Buildings

Dexus and GoGet are collaborating to provide car-share spots for commercial landlords and their network of buildings.

As previously reported, the "sharing" industry popularized by social apps and sites such as Uber and AirBnB has caused several issues in New South Wales capital cities like Sydney. Many fear that the support given by the NSW government for the sharing economy and sharing services will cause taxi drivers their jobs. Now, the market of transportation service app known as Uber that recently launched a car-sharing service known as UberX just got smaller.

According to Commercial Real Estate, commercial property management firm Dexus, in cooperation with a Sydney-based car sharing service GoGet, will assign parking spaces in its buildings for GoGet cars and for the convenience of their building tenants. This deal will give GoGet a wider reach in the sharing economy in addition to its existing relationships with car-park providers like Wilson and Secure Park. The new service will make private cars easily available for "sharing" to the individual occupants of those buildings.

Dexus executive general manager for people and asset solutions Deborah Coakley explains, "There is a change to the transport patterns of Sydney. As landlords, we need to be considering how we respond. It's not just about the person who signs the lease, but also the community of that building. What we're doing is providing an additional service. If they don't want to use the cars, it's fine."

Chris Hynes, Dexus group general manager for leasing, on the other hand, believes that the partnership will provide their customer with exclusive services that can reduce transportation costs for both corporate and individual levels. Though Dexus has declined to reveal the number of buildings covered by the new partnership.

GoGet head of locations Christopher Vanneste said, "We're so sensitive to that walking distance. If it's raining, you don't want to walk down two blocks to get your GoGet car."
