Real Estate Firm Snaps Up Wanderers Executive Course in Wellington

A piece of real estate that has been inactive for months, like a golf course, probably needs a change of hands. And an attractive piece of real estate would no doubt spark interest from prominent people of real estate firms.

According to My Palm Beach Post , the Wanderer's Club smaller golf course was purchased by W&W Equestrian Club LLC, which is affiliated with Bay City-based Ward Real Estate. 18-hole golf course had been inactive for years before the real estate firm bought it for $1 million. As evidenced by the documents filed with the Palm Beach County Clerk, the sale was completed Oct. 30, 2015 but the documents were recorded on Nov. 20. The address listed for the buyer is the same as Ward Real Estate which confirms that that Ward Real Estate's Jim Ward is the new owner.

Ward Real Estate is known to be behind many commercial properties, like the new Village Green Center on State Road 7, which houses a Trader Joe's supermarket.

According to Jim Ward has not revealed an plans for the golf course just yet, if he his company would use it a golf course or turn it into a different commercial development. Village Manager Paul Schofield suggested that there are numerous options Ward can do in the process of developing the property while retaining the golf course.

In the meantime, according to Town Crier Online, the Wanderers Club executive course land previously belonged to a by a company ran by polo mogul John Goodman. Goodman, was convicted twice and sentenced to 16 years imprisonment for the 2010 DUI that killed Scott Patrick Wilson.

On the other hand, the main Wanderers Club 72-hole golf course with its private country club, restaurants and other amenities was recently purchased by Mark Bellissimo and Wellington Equestrian. Initially, Wellington Village Council was interested with buying the golf course but previous owners backed from the deal because the council's offer was only $700,000. Goodman's asking price was $1 million.
