Gavin McInnes’ Williamsburg Penthouse on the Market for $2.5M

Gavin McInnes, one of the co-founders of the Vice magazine, has listed his Williamsburg penthouse on the market for almost $2.5 million.

The 1,300-square-foot, three-bedroom apartment features 10-foot ceilings and two terraces that offer a great view of the World Trade Center, the Empire State Building, and the connecting bridges of the island.

Once dubbed as "the Godfather of hipsterdom," McInnes bought the condo at 80 Metropolitan Avenue in 2011 for $1.15 million, reported the Curbed. The five-storey building, which has about 123 units developed by Steiner Studio, is just a short walk from the headquarters of Vice Media at 90 North 11th Street.

Jay Overbye and Caroline Freedman of Halstead Property are the listing agents of the property.

McInnes is now appearing often on Glenn Beck's television network, TheBlaze TV.

Gavin McInnes, along with Shane Smith and Surrosh Alvi, founded a small independent magazine in 1994 called the "Voice of Montreal." The name was later on rechristened as "Vice" in 1996.

Vice had grown into a media empire in 2008, that included a popular website, a separate "Vice News" brand for a music label, in journalism, and an HBO program. Due to some differences, McInnes left the media company in January 2008.

Since leaving Vice, McInnes, who now hosts an online program called "The Gavin McInnes Show" and is a frequent contributor to Fox News, has come under fire for transphobic and anti-Semitic rhetoric. And now, he's extending his support to Donald Trump, the controversial GOP frontrunner for the Republican 2016 presidential nomination.

In his appearance on NewsMax TV on Dec. 8, McInnes declared that although he supported Ted Cruz previously for president, he had "crossed over to the dark side" to support Donald Trump after the shooting in San Bernardino.

"They're all wimps," McInnes described other Republican presidential hopefuls, including Cruz. "When Trump says something with hubris and courage and bravery that sound like the real America, they cower in fear."
