House Selling Tips: Home Staging and Telling a Story with Pictures

Most people are familiar with the saying, "Pictures paint a thousand words" and the same is true in real estate. When selling a house, your pictures greatly determine whether you can get a sale or if a potential buyer skips on your listing.

With the advancement of technology, gone are the days when you had to go house searching and driving from one house to another in hopes of finding your dream home. As more and more people are looking for a house online, selling your home through photos is a vital step in securing a deal with potential buyers.

"Eighty five percent of those [online] buyers say it's the photos that are the most important factor in deciding which homes to go view," said home stager Krisztina Bell, according to Trulia.

Looking for properties online eliminates the need to drive from one house to another, which can be time consuming and tiring for the buyers. As the saleability of your house greatly depends on your photos, the publication noted on staging your home for a photo shoot.

Investopedia further reported that staging your house is a must if you want to sell your house quickly and at a maximum value. One of the essential things to do when staging your home is cleaning.

According to the publication, the potential buyers must be given a clean, blank slate to work with in order for them to envision themselves living in your space. Personal things such as family photos should be taken away when staging your home and taking photos to give the buyers the chance to imagine themselves in it.

Aside from this, accessorizing your home and finding items that complement each other without over-accessorizing will help boost the offers from buyers.

"Overstuffed shelves with various books and décor can create a visual nightmare," Bell added.

If home staging seems like something that's out of your league, there are a number of professional home stagers that can help you with this task.
