Ex-Trulia Economy Expert to Head Pacific Union Intel Group

Former Trulia Chief Economist, Selma Hepp was appointed as new head of Pacific Union's Intelligence Department. One of her mandates is to arm agents with more market information to improve market share.

According to Inman, after Hepp left Trulia in October, Pacific Union CEO Mark A. McLaughlin offered her to be the head of the Intelligence unit of his company. Hepp said that she was pleased to be working in a top caliber brokerage like Pacific Union. She added that the firm is very agile and innovative.

McLaughlin said that the main job of Hepp is to help improve the Pacific Union's market share. He added that the company will be investing close to $1 million in business intelligence and another million for technology. The company is aiming to increase its market share every year which they believe they can achieve by empowering their people.

Currently, Pacific Union is based in the San Francisco Bay area. However, they are planning to expand their area to Southern California. The company is being represented by 700 agents who recorded a sales volume of $7.65 billion last year. The main role of Hepp, who is based in Los Angeles, is to do research on various property markets such as housing, urban, international housing, as well as demographic trends in as Hep California.

As stated by Hepp, her first step in achieving these goals is to get more details and information on local markets and neighborhoods. She added that knowing the preference of local buyers is important as well. She also noted that agents should be confident in dealing with millennial buyers. Millennial buyers get a big chunk of information they need online, and this kind of buyer will always be looking for an agent who can offer a comprehensive plan in how to help them acquire the property they need.

Meanwhile, in a report by The Registry, Mark Company which is affiliated with Pacific Union will be one of those who will benefit from Hepp's Business Intelligence initiatives. According to Mark, the president is confident about Hepp's capabilities. It enhances also their ability to analyze complex market research in order to make effective marketing strategies.
