Global Real Estate Consultancy Firm Points to Adaptability and Innovation as Keys for Success of Cities of the Future

The city of the future will not only focus on technology. The Jones Lang LaSalle Index points to innovation and the ability to adapt to change as the keys for success for the world's top economic hubs.

According to World Property Journal, global real estate consultant Jones Lang LaSalle indicated that innovation, likeability and the capacity for reinvention are going to be the biggest factors that will dictate how key cities in the word will continue to lead. Cities like London, Silicon Valley, Dublin, Bangalore and Boston are in the top of the list that are expected to create an atmosphere that draws advanced and innovative businesses. The report also emphasized on getting and nurturing top talent, advanced technologies and creating healthy communities.

The director of global research for JLL, Jeremy Kelly says that in 2015, Commercial Momentum Index (CMI) focused only in the advancement of technology while the recent 2016 CMI shows top 20 cities that are booming not only because of technology but also by virtue of their capacity to nurture and give importance to new ideas. These cities emphasized promotion of higher education, research institution, co-production and innovation.

Kelly also added that real estate can also greatly impact a particular city because it can enable productivity, creativity and improve other businesses. Real estate is not limited to housing and property but can also open the doors to large scale business opportunities that can appeal to corporations and talents. Cities need to focus on the environment that can provide smart and productive commercial buildings in order to gain more capital and improve the capabilities of its people.

Meanwhile, in a report by SlideShare, the world's most dynamic cities are measured according to their socio-economic, strong infrastructure, and deep concentration of corporation, capital and capacity. Based on the strengths of established world cities, according to JJL CMI 2016, the list includes London, New York, Tokyo, Shanghai and Seoul. On the other hand, the increasing momentum in the U.S. by "New World Cities" includes Boston, San Francisco, Seattle and Austin.
