'Star Wars Episode 7' Plot, Trailer & Release Date: Official Trailer Dropping on Black Friday

"Star Wars" is joining the Black Friday rush!

According to the franchise's official Twitter page, the trailer for the highly-anticipated film, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" will be dropping via iTunes on Black Friday.

In a catchy post over the social media platform, the team at Lucasfilm made the announcement with a post that read: "The Force is with you on #BlackFriday when #TheForceAwakens teaser hits @iTunesTrailers."

Apple Insider noted that earlier, the studio indicated that only 30 theaters nationwide would show the teaser spanning 88 seconds but now, the teaser trailer will be made available through the general public on Black Friday through Apple's iTunes. The Cupertino-based tech giant confirmed the news via Twitter shortly after Lucasfilm made the announcement. However, neither company confirmed to audience what time the trailer would go live on iTunes.

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" will take place 30 years after the events of the last film, "Return of the Jedi." Lucasfilm and Disney have shared that the film will star both original cast and new actors.

"It has also been confirmed that Star Wars: Episode VII is set about 30 years after the events of Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi, and will star a trio of new young leads along with some very familiar faces. No further details on casting or plot are available at this time," said the statement on the website.

With the return of the original actors, namely, that Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, and Mark Hamill who are reprising their roles as as Han Solo, Leia Organa, and Luke Skywalker.

The last film, Jedi, debuted in1983, which is just over 30 years, making the physical appearance of the actors in sync with the story line. The news of a soon-to-drop trailer has many fans excited. Many social media users have welcomed the good news. One member with the handle Steve Kidd wrote: "@starwars @iTunesTrailers OH MY GOD YES!!!!!!!!"

The seventh installment of the franchise, managed by Disney's is directed by J.J. Abrams. The film has already wrapped up filming and is pegged for theater release a year from now. The movie will hit the silver screen on Dec. 18, 2015.
