Celebrity Homes For Sale: Street Artist Shepard Fairey Sells Los Feliz Mansion for $1.835M

Street artist and philanthropist Shepard Fairey and his family are selling their Los Feliz home for $1.835 million.

According to Los Angeles Curbed, Fairey and his family only stayed in the property once after buying it in 2005 for $1.37 million. It was reported that they added a terraced backyard and landscaping to the property.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the 2,500-square-foot area has a total of four bedrooms and bathrooms and has retained most of its original features since the purchase. The Mediterranean-style home was originally built in the 1920s, and Fairey and his wife also added an outdoor kitchen and planted a number of camellia bushes on the 8,000 square feet of property. The couple and their two daughters now live in another Los Feliz property which they purchased for $2.54 million in June 2015.

Listing details for the property reveal that the interior has thick archways and there are high-arched beamed ceilings in the living room. There's also an eat-in kitchen. The dining room is decorated stylishly and has its own viewing balcony.

The fourth bedroom, which can be used as a guest suite or an office space, shares a patio with the room where Fairey used to work on his pieces. The place also features multiple outdoor entertainment spaces and dining. The house also has a two-car garage with extra storage space which was also frequently used as a painting studio by Fairey.

Fairey is an American contemporary artist who became widely known during the 2008 US presidential election for his Barack Obama "Hope" poster. He is also a philanthropist who began donating to organizations like Chiapas Relief Fund and the Art of Elysium. The proceeds from the Obama campaign poster were donated to ACLU and Feeding America. Fairey is known to be open about controversial political and social issues and creates and donates his artwork to promote awareness to these issues.
