Celebrity Real Estate: Batmobile Creator George Barris' Encino Condo for Sale for $599K

The Encino condo that belongs to the late car master George Barris is now for sale for $599,000.

According to Realtor, the California condo was the secondary residence of Barris and his late wife Shirley for over 25 years. It was reported that the place was bought in 1988 because it was close to Barris' business location which was the Barris Kustom Industries.

Listing details for the property reveal that the 1,837-square-foot contemporary style condo has a total of two bedrooms and two bathrooms. It also has two fireplaces and a large eat-in kitchen. The master bedroom offers a huge walk-in closet and also has a private patio where one can view the lavishly landscaped grounds. The condo also has an open floor plan which can be customized according to the owner's preferences. It was said to be the most desirable location within Encino Towers, and residents can use the amenities like the swimming pool, spa, tennis courts and the club room.

Barris, who is known as "The King of The Kustomizers," was famous for his Hollywood cars, most notably the Munster Koach and the 1966 Batmobile. He was also one of the leading pioneers in Kustom Kulture which became one of the subjects of Tom Wolfe's essay collection. He also customized cars for some of the Hollywood A-list celebrities like the golden Rolls Royce for for Zsa Zsa Gabor and a modified Cadillac for the king of rock, Elvis Presley. One of his first film assignments were the cars for Alfred Hitchcock's movie, "North by Northwest," and the 1960 movie "The Time Machine."

Barris died on Nov. 5, 2015 at the age of 89, which his son Brett Barris announced on his Facebook page. According to the reports, Barris died in his sleep and was surrounded by his family members in his own home.
