Mike Tyson Net Worth: Former Boxing Superstar Buys Henderson Mansion for $2.5M

Former heavyweight boxing champ Mike Tyson and his wife recently bought a mansion in Henderson, Nevada for $2.5 million. Apparently, the former boxing superstar is trying to get back on his feet after losing a lot of money a few years back.

According to Realtor, the property was originally built in 2001, and the 10,401-square-foot property has a total of six bedrooms and seven bathrooms. There are master bedrooms both on the first and second floors, and it also has detached casitas, a media room, swimming pool, four-car garage and a wine cellar.

Listing details for the property reveal that the residence sits on 0.76 acres of lot and has its own tennis court. The kitchen is filled with custom cabinets, granite countertops, stone flooring and over-the-top appliances like cooktop oven, dishwasher and refrigerator.

Tyson and his wife previously owned a 5,700-square-foot home in 2008. According to the listing agent, when they saw this larger property for sale, the couple considered it a good opportunity and bought it.

Tyson is a retired American boxer who was an undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. During the peak of his career, he has an estimated net worth of $300 million, but around 1988, his personal life began to fall apart starting with the divorce with his ex-wife Robin Givens. According to Celebrity Net Worth, after filing for bankruptcy in 2003, the former athlete had only $1 million left.

In 1995, he wanted to make a comeback in the boxing ring and won his first two comeback fights. In 1997, he became more famous for biting off a chunk of his then opponent Evander Holyfield's ear and was penalized for doing so. He announced his retirement from boxing on July 11, 2005, and since then he was busy with media appearances in several television shows and movies like "The Hangover."
