Pinterest Decor Tips that You Need to Ditch this Year

It's already been a known fact that Pinterest is one of the "run to" sources most artistic minds would go to whenever they're in for a creative take. The whole site is filled with countless DIY and design ideas every DIY fanatic can refer to. It is mostly filled with up to date design trends and hippie-bohemian vibes for people that would go for a more rustic themed party or home design.

Though several design ideas may be brilliant, there are some that needs to be thrown down the drain. Listed below are a few Pinterest décor tips that need to be ditched this year.

Mason Jars

Though mason jars have served their purpose numerous times last year, they need to stay in the 2015 era as the New Year no longer welcome these jars. One of the main reasons why is because they became too mainstream. As per Refinery 29 website, mason jars are overly used, fact is, they're already been pinned more than 5000 times which is just too much.

Chalkboard Paint

Numerous home décor websites pointed out one design trend that needs to be ditched this year, and it is no other than the infamous chalkboard paint that is mostly present on all cafes and modern households. Though it may sound like a good idea when it comes to having a gigantic grocery or things to do list but it also accumulates dust that can trigger asthma. Ditch the chalkboard and opt for a more subtle cork board instead.

Chevron Patters

This pattern needs to go as per the Bob Vila website, though the V-shaped geometric pattern made its way into most homes last year, it no longer offers a fresh feeling once used for 2016. As per Sara Gilbane Sullivan from Sara Gilbane Interiors,

"I think chevron is on its way out, I have seen it a lot in fabric, wallpaper, and flooring (wood and tile) and it is already starting to feel dated to me. A herringbone wood floor is classic, but chevron no longer feels fresh."
