Danny Meyer Net Worth: Restaurateur to Take Charge at 28 Liberty St.

New York City restaurateur and the Chief Executive Officer of the Union Square Hospitality Group Danny Meyer will run the new catering and events space on the top floor of the fame Fosun International 28 Liberty Street, a report from the New York Post said.

"Meyer is the force behind the Union Square Cafe, Gramercy Tavern and The Modern, among others. He also owns Union Square Events, which is poised to become the operator for the yet-to-be named space on the 60th floor of the former One Chase Manhattan Building," the report said.

According to Real Deal, Fosun has made significant renovations of the $2.2 million-square-foot building. The company said that the renovation has cost them $150 million, an amount that a Chinese conglomerate and investment company obviously can afford. The Chinese investment company bought the building for $725 million back in 2013.

"Their plan, approved by the Landmarks Preservation Commission in August, is to replace the building's street-level facade with glass panes and create 200,000 square feet of retail space both on that level, and on five below-grade floors," the report said

It was said that the building was once known as One Chase Manhattan Plaza. The building's 60th floor was used before as a private conference center and a dining room for both business and bank executives. The tower's hall allows guests to enjoy a panoramic view of the downtown Manhattan. The company, however, stressed that the event space will only accommodate the tenants in the building and won't be open for the general public.

Business Insider reports that Meyer has a net worth of more than $386 million. The famed New York City restaurateur owns a 7,4440,822 shares of Class B stock in the popular burger chain Shake Shack. In 2015, the company's shares have soared to $52 from its initial price of $21 in the early trading.
